Ariels was formed as Victorian Churches Netball Association in 1930 and is one of the oldest netball associations in Australia. Over the past nine decades the club has continued to grow and promote the sport of netball, particularly in Melbourne's eastern region.
The association is committed to providing support and opportunities to players, recognising and nurturing leadership and good sportsmanship and offering a pathway to higher levels of competition to allow players, coaches and umpires to reach their full potential.
We are very lucky to have had so many wonderful people help get our association to where it is today, please click here for a list of our Life Members

In 2008 the club was successful in gaining one of 10 licences statewide for the newly formed elite Victorian Netball League competition. The club was restructured to provide opportunities for other local associations to join our pathway. In 2018 we were successful in renewing our licence for a further 5 years.
Our structure consists of:
Ariels – Victorian Netball League- Championship Division team
- Division 1 team
- 19 & Under team
- Squad teams – 19&U and Division 1
In 2023 we launched our VNL Development program. Players from ALL associations, clubs and Footy/Netball leagues are welcome to try out to join these squads. This program is a pathway into our “Ariels" Victorian Netball League teams. This program consists of:
- VNL development squad 20+

Ariels VCNA is different to many representative associations in that we deliberately cast our net wide and have as many teams as possible to give the maximum number of players the opportunity to play representative netball.
